FSU head coach Mike Norvell spoke highly of Travis in news conference Monday afternoon and says the incident was “devastating.”
“Just for him, for who he is, for what he’s meant to this program… the impact that he’s made on and off the field, to know that you know his last play at Florida State has happened, it’s just hard,” said Norvell.
He said the injury left many of the players in shock, but he admired the team for how they came back from adversity with Travis’ injury and their slow start to ultimately win the game.
“What I was so proud of was the response of our team… you saw a team that continued to come together,’ added Norvell.

ORIGINAL 9:23 a.m.: Florida State University football fans are still waiting to hear an official update on the status of the Seminoles’ star quarterback Jordan Travis following an injury Saturday during the game against the University of North Alabama.
Travis, a Heisman Trophy contender, was tackled after a scramble to about midfield and his leg was caught underneath a defender. The QB immediately pointed to his left leg and medical staff rushed onto the field.
Several minutes later, Travis was carted off the field after suffering what appeared to be a serious injury to his left leg.
Florida State beat North Alabama 58-13, and after the game, head coach Mike Norvell said he didn’t have an update on Travis’ condition.
“Jordan went down, that was something that nobody ever wants to see a player go down,” Norvell said. “I don’t have any updates on it tonight. But I was proud of the way our guys responded throughout the course of the game.”
Meantime, on Sunday Travis provided the ‘Noles Nation with an update on his Instagram page from his hospital room.
“Just wanted to let you know I’m doing good, feeling good,” Travis said in the video. “Got a smile on my face. Just going to follow God’s plan. God has a journey for me and I’m going to trust him every step of the way. I appreciate y’all. Go ‘Noles.”
Travis is a fifth-year senior who has led a turnaround at Florida State from five victories in 2021 to College Football Playoff contender this year. He is Florida State’s career leader in offensive yards (10,553).
