OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The City of Ocala last week posted its agenda for the next city council meeting, to be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

The agenda is available here for public perusal and includes many noteworthy items. Among them are a pair of second and final public hearings on requests for Adoption of Ordinances, which means they will likely be voted on at this meeting.

Resolution 2026-42

Resolution 2026-42 is a request to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine and liquor, in a “downtown event zone” for restaurant The Black Sheep on Broadway’s Christmas in July Block Party fundraising event for the Marion County Literacy Council on July 25. This is a fairly standard ask, as many downtown events request and receive permission to sell alcohol at their outdoor events downtown.

Ordinance 2026-19

Ordinance 2026-19 boils down to a request to rezone a property/parcel at 619 SE 17th St. in Ocala from O-1 Office District (primarily professional, medical, governmental, and administrative offices) to B-2A Limited Business Commercial District (retail, financial institutions, offices, etc.), which allows a broader range of commercial activities.

The Planning & Zoning Commission staff report finds the request consistent with the city’s Code of Ordinances and the property’s existing Low Intensity Future Land Use category. Staff recommends approval.

The current occupant of the single building at the address is Bitting’s Pharmacy Medical Equipment & Supplies.

Ocala City Council meetings are open to the public. The next meeting occurs Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 4 p.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of Ocala City Hall, 110 SE Watula Ave., Ocala.
