OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Southern cuisine-focused Big Man’s Cafe announced in a social media post on Thursday, May 21, 2026, that Sunday, May 24 would be the last day of operations for its flagship Ocala location at 1011 NE 14th St.
“We would like to say thank you for your support over the last 4 years,” read the announcement, in part. “It has been [the] Big Man’s Cafe family’s pleasure to have had the opportunity to serve you our version of southern cooking and hospitality. Due to increase in cost and poor upkeep of the building, we’ve decided it would best fit us to move on from this location.”
Modern-ish and well-reviewed, Big Man’s Cafe is known for hearty portions of its takes on southern favorites like fried chicken, smothered pork chops, oxtails and down-home sides. (The breakfast options and wings have also been perennial favorites.)
The team invites diners to visit their extant locations at 9425 SE Maricamp Rd. and 11655 NW Gainesville Rd., both in Ocala.
