This environmental observance is a chance for anyone to interact with nature and participate in efforts and fundraisers to keep the Earth healthy. Celebrations, fundraisers and markets will be taking place throughout the week for educational and lively fun while keeping eco-friendly subjects in mind.

Save Our Springs and Plant Your Seeds

The Florida Springs Council, Working Food and The AUK Market are teaming up for an Earth Day market. Learn about local springs and Earth Day from local nonprofits, swap plants and take part in a seed exchange. Vendors will be around the area, showcasing local arts and Earth Day items. Live music will take place throughout the evening with food trucks and restaurants on-site for treats and bites to enjoy while learning more about plant and spring life.

Earth Day Celebration

The City of Gainesville is hosting an Earth Day Celebration, recognizing locals with community awards and city staff awards. Locals will have the opportunity to vote on community members for the community impact award, local business award and the youth sustainability award for those who are making a positive impact on the environment. They will also vote on the transportation champion award for a bus driver, environmental leadership award for a city staff member who implements environmental projects and policy and advocacy award for a city staff member advancing environmental policy. On top of the awards, there will be a free tree giveaway for a meaningful moment of environmental support during the celebration.

Earthfest: Celebrate Arbor Day

Join Tuscawilla Park for a day of educational fun and family-friendly activities. The morning will begin with the annual Youth Fishing Derby starting 9 a.m. and lasting throughout the event until noon. Some of the activities featured will be tree climbing, rock wall climbing and live music. Vendors will be scattered around the park with eco-friendly items and information.

Earthfest will be taking place on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Tuscawilla Park, 800 NE Sanchez Ave, Ocala. It will be free for everyone along with a free tree giveaway. For more information, visit the City of Ocala’s website here.

Pasco Earth Day Celebration

Celebrate Earth Day presented by Reworld where guests will have the opportunity to venture through plant sales, shop vendors and check out educational displays and learn more about Wildlife from varying organizations. There will also be waste collection, recycle collections and document shredding on-site for those who have spare waste to dispose of properly. Pasco County Household Hazardous Waste and Shred 360 will be collecting the waste and assisting in shredding documents.

For interactive fun, The UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension Service will be hosting two workshops with one at 10 a.m. and one at 11 a.m. Registration is required for limited seating and giveaway items.

This celebration will be taking place on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Crews Lake Wilderness Park, 16739 Crews Lake Dr, Shady Hills. Big Bloom Home & Garden Show

Locals can visit the World Equestrian Center for a lively look at outdoor living, home improvement and plant items, options, businesses and vendors. Outdoor living sections will include gardens, landscapes, BBQs, carts, outdoor kitchens, sheds, storage buildings and more with experts onsite for questions. Home improvement sections will include builders, remodelers, organizational items and more. Vendors for onsite shopping will include items such as plants, chicken coups, dog kennels, art and food. For those looking for family-friendly fun, guests can learn how to make their own fairy gardens, attend seminars to learn more about plant initiatives, allow kids to participate in workshops to learn more about plants, meet an owl and explore the large kids’ zone.

The first 50 families will receive Lowe’s buckets, free Straight Line Construction tote bags will be available while supplies last and anyone can register for the chance to win a Weber grill.
