OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Community Home Project (CHP), an initiative of the Marion County Hospital District, is hosting a free, eight-week Diabetes Self-Management Series beginning Thursday, Aug. 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., through Thursday, Sept. 25, at Howard Academy Community Center, 306 NW 7th Ave., Ocala, FL, 34475. Classes are open and free to all individuals ages 18 and older who are prediabetic, diabetic, or for those who support someone with diabetes.

All participants will engage in the Diabetes Education Empowerment Program (DEEP), an eight-week curriculum designed to enhance diabetes self-care. Throughout the course attendees will gain knowledge and skills to better manage their diabetes, including guidance on improving eating habits, increasing physical activity, monitoring blood sugar and related metrics, and preventing complications associated with diabetes.
