OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Downtown Ocala was buzzing with energy on Friday, May 2, as art lovers, families, and curious passersby came together for the First Friday Art Walk – and they were among the first to step into Melodic Metamorphosis, a brand-new exhibit at Brick City Center for the Arts.
Presented by Marion Cultural Alliance in partnership with local creatives Laurie Zink, David Kellner, and Jessica Carter, the exhibit explores how music, art, and literature can inspire change and connection.

From bold paintings to reimagined instruments, the show invites viewers to experience creativity from every angle. It runs through May 20.

Outside, downtown Ocala was alive with talent. Artist Justin Alsedek set up a collection of colorful portraits, while longtime basket weaver Sarah Kelsay worked on a new piece, as she has since 1983. Cigar box guitars crafted by Andrew Nichols turned heads, and photographer Sharon Howard shared scenes from Florida’s wild spaces.

Dancers from West Port High School’s MCAA program brought movement and music to the lawn, rounding out an evening full of inspiration.
First Friday Art Walks will start again in September, offering a chance to explore the arts, meet local makers, and enjoy an evening in the heart of Ocala.
