SILVER SPRINGS SHORES, FL (352today.com) – It’s been a long, long time coming, but the new Silver Springs Shores Public Library will finally open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10 a.m.

Originally slated to open last fall, the library was officially named by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners last May, and got its exterior paint job last month.

Everything is finally in place, and the library–which will serve an estimated 15,000 library cardholders in the vicinity while saving them the time, gas and hassle of having to travel to either the Belleview Public Library or Ocala Public Library HQ on East Silver Springs Boulevard–is inviting the public to celebrate this community milestone.

“The community has been asking for a library in this area for many years, and it is exciting to see that vision come to fruition,” said Julie Selig, Marion County Public Library System director, in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome residents into their new library and invite everyone to explore everything it has to offer.”

In addition to, you know, books for checkout, the new Silver Springs Shores Public Library features a welcoming contemporary interior space as well as access to all the stuff that modern library cardholders are now offered, including Wi-Fi, audiobooks, online periodicals, digital movies for borrowing, and a spate of events designed to be both fun and educational for all ages.

“The Marion County Library System’s popular story times, summer reading activities, educational workshops, and lifelong learning opportunities will now be available closer to home for Shores residents,” read an announcement.

The ribbon cutting will be followed by guided tours of the new facility.

The Silver Springs Shores Public Library is located at 527 Spring Lake Rd. and is part of the Silver Springs Shores Community Center campus.
