MIAMI, FL (352today.com) – The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring two concentrated weather systems in the Atlantic, and one could potentially develop into a storm to watch.
The more vital of the two storms is currently located a few hundred miles south-southeast of the Cape Verde Islands off the western coast of Africa.
While the storm hasn’t strengthened in the last few hours, “environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development,” according to the NHC’s 2 p.m. update on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. “This system is likely to become a tropical depression during the next day or two while it moves westward to west-northwestward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
“Environmental conditions could become less conducive for development by the weekend,” the report concludes.
The other system is located “several hundred miles northeast of Bermuda,” and remains disorganized. The report says it may briefly become a tropical depression, but hostile environmental conditions should halt its development by Wednesday.
