OCALA, FL (352today.com) – An 18-year-old was struck by a truck Sunday night while standing in the median of the 2500 block of SW College Road and filming a viral video, Ocala Police say.
According to OPD’s statement on social media, a pickup truck traveling westbound on SW College Road collided with a Lexus SUV leaving Ocala West Plaza and entering the road at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
As a result of the collision, the pickup truck struck an 18-year-old who was “standing on the median” of SW College Road. According to the OPD, subsequent investigation revealed the man was one of three who had been filming a video on the median in which they were “giving a haircut on the median.”
The 18-year-old was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The collision is still under investigation, but the OPD announcement stated that neither of the drivers involved in the collision showed signs of impairment at the scene.
The announcement made no direct connection between the individuals filming the video on the median and the cause of the collision.
