THE VILLAGES, FL (352today.com) – The short answer is: not much.
Reports emerged seemingly out of the ether yesterday that, less than a week after shots were fired and an alleged would-be assassin was apprehended at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton in DC, President Donald J. Trump would speak at The Villages Charter School in Sumterville this Friday, May 1, 2026.
Early news stories reported that the president would appear at The Villages High School in Middleton, but the Republican Events website confirms the Sumterville location as of press time.
No official reason or subject has been given for the appearance, but doors are scheduled to open at 11 a.m. and the president will speak at 3 p.m.
An online registration portal for the event says spots to RSVP for the engagement are full.
A recent report from USA Today states that President Trump will also appear at The Forum Club of The Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach later the same evening.
This will be the first time Trump has appeared at The Villages, a noted deep-red stronghold in North Central Florida, since 2020, while he was seeking reelection.
