GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Earlier this month, a group of Gainesville pool players were crowned world champs after winning a 9-ball tournament in Las Vegas.

Gambler 1 is the winning team, made up of six Gainesville American Poolplayers Association (APA) members, Tre Ragan, Raymond Rangel, Christopher Rodriguez, Naomi Stevens, Lora Rangel and Danielle Ogden. Together, they bested 581 other qualifying teams and won a $20,000 prize.

The World 9-Ball Championship took place at the Westgate Las Vegas from Aug. 8 to Aug. 12. This was just one of several APA World Championships, one of the APA’s four major annual tournaments, featuring more than 15,000 players and $1.3 million in prizes.
