GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Football fans attending the upcoming University of Florida vs. LSU game on Nov. 16, 2024, will have the opportunity to prioritize their health while enjoying the gameday festivities. Man Cave Health, the UF Health Cancer Center, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation are teaming up to host a special “Tailgate and Testing” event during the Gator Fanfest tailgate.

The event, taking place five hours prior to kickoff, will offer free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood tests to attendees aged 40 and older. This critical screening can help detect prostate cancer in its early stages, when the disease is most treatable.

“College football brings communities together, and there’s no better time to remind men about the importance of taking care of their health,” said Prostate Cancer Foundation President Gina Carithers. “With one in eight men being diagnosed with prostate cancer, early detection is critical.”

In addition to the PSA tests, the event will feature educational resources and the opportunity to interact with UF sports personalities. Participants will also be eligible for exclusive UF merchandise and VIP ticket giveaways, adding to the excitement of game day.

“This event gives us a chance to engage with men in the community, save lives through early detection, and remind everyone, especially men, that taking charge of your health can be fun and rewarding,” said Chris Masters, Executive Director of Man Cave Health.

The partnership between these organizations underscores the importance of accessible men’s health screenings, especially in regions like North Central Florida that continue to see high rates of advanced prostate cancer diagnoses.

“Appropriate screening remains a critical component in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer,” said Dr. Paul Crispen of the UF College of Medicine.

Fans are encouraged to visit the Gator Fanfest outside of Gate 2 at Exactech Arena on Nov. 16th to take advantage of this life-saving screening opportunity.
