OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 77-year-old woman was struck and killed while attempting to cross Southwest 80th Avenue near the Calesa Township community late Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
They say that the incident happened around 9:40 p.m.in an area without streetlights, making the roadway dark. Troopers report that a Subaru Outback, driven by a 74-year-old man traveling southbound, hit the woman as she tried to cross from east to west.
The driver, along with his 76-year-old wife who was a passenger, remained at the scene. Both Florida Highway Patrol and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
