MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 41-year-old Belleview woman lost her life early Thursday morning after being struck by a van on County Road 25 near Spruce Creek, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident happened around 5 a.m., east of SE 84th Terrace. FHP reports indicate the woman was walking in the road’s eastbound lane when a van, driven by a 78-year-old Belleview man, approached in a southeasterly direction.
FHP says that the van’s front end struck the pedestrian, causing her to fall in the roadway. The vehicle continued onto the south grass shoulder before coming to rest. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was unharmed.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
