MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 64-year-old man from The Villages passed away following a crash on U.S. 301 late Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident occurred around 11:41 a.m. on November 19 near SE 144th Place Rd. Authorities believe the man, identified as the driver of a southbound sedan, suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

The car veered off the roadway in a southwest direction, eventually colliding with a fence and a tree. Emergency services transported the driver to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

FHP is continuing its investigation into the incident. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.
