OCALA, FL (352today.com) – CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion (CLM) and Marion Technical College (MTC) are teaming up once again to host a CDL Community Job Fair, aimed at connecting job seekers with careers in commercial truck driving.
The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Marion Technical College, 1014 SW Seventh Road in Ocala. Attendance is free, though registration is recommended.
Multiple employers will be on-site recruiting Class A and Class B commercial drivers, including recent graduates, for both over-the-road and local positions in Marion County. MTC representatives will also be available to guide those interested in furthering their CDL education.
Dale French, executive vice president of CareerSource CLM, highlighted the continued need for these job fairs.
“One also took place in 2019, but we had to hit the brakes in 2020 (during Covid), so this is actually our sixth CDL job fair,” French said. “The reason we keep having them every year is because there is such demand in the transportation industry for over-the-road drivers as well as for those interested in more local and regional routes.”
Participating employers include Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, City of Ocala, Cone Distributing, CWR Contracting, Drive Line Solutions, GFL Environmental, Hilton Hitch Investments, Marion County Public Schools, Marion Technical College, McLane Company, SunTran and Waste Pro.
Job seekers are encouraged to bring printed copies of their resumes and dress professionally.
CareerSource CLM offers free employability assistance, including resume help and interview coaching, at its career centers in Ocala, Lecanto and Chiefland. The centers are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
