Florida Highway Patrol says 37-year-old bicyclist was struck from behind on SR 25 near SE 80th Court; driver arrested at the scene.
MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Janice Rozellen Schwarz of Belleview has been formally charged with one count of DUI manslaughter and four counts of DUI with property damage following Saturday’s fatal crash on SR 25 that killed a 37-year-old bicyclist, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Originally published June 8, 2025, at 11:04 a.m.: A 37-year-old Ocala man was killed early Saturday morning in a crash involving a vehicle and a bicycle on State Road 25, just past the intersection of SE 80th Court.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was riding his bicycle westbound on the north shoulder of the road around 2 a.m. Saturday, June 7, when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Janice Rozellen Schwarz of Belleview, was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI manslaughter.
Marion County Fire Rescue pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
