OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Board of County Commissioners will be holding a public hearing Sept. 10, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the McPherson Governmental Campus Auditorium, to adopt the annual rate resolutions and certify non-ad valorem assessment rolls for stormwater services, solid waste and fire rescue for fiscal year 2025-26.

For the stormwater services and stormwater management programs, no increase has been proposed for next year’s assessment rate.

  • The number of equivalent stormwater units as defined by ordinance is 282,576.99.
  • The amount of assessment per ESU is $15 maximum and $10.57 minimum
  • The ESU equals 2,275 square feet
  • The budget being the total amount of special assessments to be collected minus 5% as required by section 129.01 of the Florida Statutes is $4,238,684.85, minus 5% or $211,932.74 or $4,026,722.11.

The special assessments in accordance with the provisions of Florida law, will be collected in the same manner and subject to the same procedures as ad-valorem taxes.

For the Marion County residential solid water services for fiscal year 2025-2026.

  • The tentative budget is $34,698,704.87 or $36,524,952.50, minus $1,826,247.63 or 5% of the tentative budget as required by state statutes.
  • The number of units is 169,883.50
  • The amount of assessment per residential unit’s proposed increase will be from $87 to $215 per residential unit.

The special assessments in accordance with the provisions of Florida law, will be collected in the same manner and subject to the same procedures as ad-valorem taxes.

Fire and Rescue Services for the forthcoming fiscal year.

  • The tentative budget is $54,797,694.80, minus the 5% or $2,884, 089.20, required by Florida Statute 129.01 or $57,681,784.
  • The number of units is $64,985,097.69
  • In the residential category, in the current demand component, per dwelling unit is $49.17. The proposed demand component, pre dwelling is $76.53. The current availability component per equivalent dwelling unit is $150.74 and the proposed availability component per EDU is $207.44.
