OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Whether you’re looking for something new, fun or holiday-inspired to watch during the season or you want to watch nostalgic classics on the big screen, here are some movies hitting theaters this season and holiday-inspired classics to enjoy with the family.
“Hamnet”
This romantic film directed by Chloé Zhao is based on a novel of the same name written by Maggie O’Farrell who also co-wrote the film. The film is based on Agnes (Jessie Buckley) and William (Paul Mescal) Shakespeare and the tragic loss of their son, Hamnet, that inspired the well-known classic play by Shakespeare, “Hamlet”.
“Hamnet” will debut on the big screen at Epic Theatres of Ocala on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025.
“Five Night at Freddy’s 2”
This film directed by Emma Tammi is a sequel to the kitschy horror hit “Five Nights at Freddy’s” (2023), featuring the same cast of characters as Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) and Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio) navigate the aftermath of the events of the first film. One year later, the Schmidt siblings return to the pizzeria, leading a terrifying sequence of events that unveils old secrets.
“Five Night at Freddy’s 2” will be released in theaters Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. It will be featured at Epic Theatres of Ocala and Regal Hollywood – Ocala starting at 11 a.m.
“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”
This film directed by Rian Johnson is the third installment of the “Knives Out” (2019) franchise following its 2022 sequel “Glass Onion.” Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) returns for another mystery as he investigates a murder among a small church community.
“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” will debut on Netflix following its limited theatrical release in select theatres on Wednesday, Nov. 26. It will be available for streaming on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.
“Silent Night, Deadly Night”
This horror film directed by Mike P. Nelson is a remake of the cult-classic 1984 slasher. After witnessing the murders of his parents as a child by a man in a Santa costume, Billy Chapman (Rohan Campbell), wears his own Santa suit years later to go on a violent journey of vengeance.
“Silent Night, Deadly Night” will have a theatrical release in select theatres on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, with streaming available on Tubi and Pluto TV.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash”
This highly anticipated movie directed by James Cameron is the third installment of the “Avatar” (2009) series following “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022). This film follows the aftermath of a death in the Sully family as they try to cope while integrating with the Metkayina clan. As they settle with the clan, a new threat emerges, forcing them to navigate grief while confronting a new opposition.
“Avatar Fire and Ash” will have a theatrical release at Epic Theatres of Ocala and Regal Hollywood – Ocala on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, starting at 10:50 a.m.
Classic Christmas Movie Screenings
For those looking for Christmas nostalgia, Epic Theatres of Ocala, Regal Hollywood – Ocala and the Marion Theatre are hosting holiday cinema releases throughout December.
Epic Theatres of Ocala will be featuring classic and well-known classics with “The Holiday” (2006), “Elf” (2003), “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1947) and “The Polar Express” (2004).

Regal Hollywood – Ocala is showcasing a mix of classic and more recent Christmas movies that are rescreening throughout November and December. Some of these features are “The Christmas Chronicles” (2018), “A Christmas Story” (1983), “Klaus” (2019) and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000).

Marion Theatre will be showing classic Christmas movies for fun screenings at $5 for budget-friendly fun classic watches.
