OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Patriots’ bats were held in check on the road Thursday, March 26 by Seminole State College Raiders starting pitcher Colton Sampson. Sampson (6-2) surrendered only five hits and one run in his complete game 5-1 win over CF.
CF would bounce back at home on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with 10-3 and 5-2 wins to complete the doubleheader sweep over the Raiders and win the Citrus Conference series. The sweep moved the Pats into sole possession of first place with a 16-5 conference record.
Patriots’ freshman outfielder, Jose Correa was the star of the day going 7 for 7 with three doubles, his fifth homerun of the season, five RBI and seven runs scored. Ignacio Salaverria collected four hits with four RBI in the twin bill.
Richard Bello (6-1) relieved starter Kaiden Lopez (4.2 IP, 5H, 3R, 4K) in the fifth inning of game one and shutdown the Raiders for the remainder of the game. Bello tossed 2.1 hitless innings with no walks and three strikeouts to earn the win.
In the second game of the day, Pats’ starting pitcher Jay Jung scattered nine hits over 6.2 innings, allowing only two runs while striking out seven to earn the win and improve to 3-3 on the season. Niko Janssens relieved Jung in the seventh inning to close out the final 2.1 innings, allowing only one hit, no runs with a strikeout. It was Janssens fourth save of the season. Bruno Schafer contributed offensively with two hits and an RBI.
The Patriots are winners of 17 of their last 19 games and improved to 25-13 overall. The Raiders fall to 22-15 overall and 10-11 in the Citrus Conference.
CF will welcome the Lake Sumter State College Lake Hawks to Goodlett Field on Tuesday, March 31 at 2 p.m. for a mid-week non-conference game. Admission is free.
