OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A group of concerned citizens is rallying support from the community to express opposition to the potential closing or rezoning of Ocala’s Wyomina Park Elementary School at a meeting scheduled by Marion County Public Schools to gather public input on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Eagle-eyed 352Today staffers spotted a flyer around the school’s region advertising the event, which is scheduled for tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Fort King Middle School.
The flyer reads, in part, “For more information, contact Fort King Community Outreach,” though multiple searches of the web and social media turned up no evidence of or contact information for “Fort King Community Outreach.”
Regardless, members of the community seem focused on presenting a united reaction to the Marion County School Board’s former intent to close or rezone the school to become the new home of Bridgeway Academy, a plan that was put on hold after impassioned opposition from residents at the board’s meeting on August 11, during which parents and staffers pointed out the institution did not receive the opportunity for public discourse afforded other schools with uncertain futures, such as Reddick and Sparr elementary schools.
Following the meeting, Marion County Public Schools Superintendent Danielle Brewer announced two community sessions to hear public input scheduled for Aug. 27—one at 9 a.m. in the Browne Greaton Cole Auditorium at Marion Technical Institute, and the one emphasized by the flyer, at 6 p.m. at Fort King Middle, 545 NE 17th Ave.
