MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is asking for your help identifying a man who they say is impersonating a law enforcement officer.
The sheriff’s office says on Nov. 3, the man pictured wore a protective vest, went to a home on Water Trak and rang the doorbell. They say when the resident didn’t answer the door, he called them stating he was “Detective Nichols.”
MCSO says the same day, a person who looked similar was in Countryside Estates near the 4200 block of NE 34th Court. Deputies say he was wearing a shirt that looked like a sheriff’s office shirt and approached a woman nearby asking if she had seen a missing little girl.
“Both citizens were concerned and suspicious about their interaction with this individual and made reports to the sheriff’s office,” said MCSO in a Facebook post.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the man is an impersonator and doesn’t not work for them. They are asking for your help identifying him.
