BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – The City of Belleview is receiving a $1 million boost from the State of Florida’s Fiscal Year 2025–2026 Budget to support its Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, a key infrastructure project already underway.
The expansion increases capacity from 1.0 to 1.2 million gallons per day (MGD), helping Belleview keep pace with population growth, reduce reliance on aging septic systems, and improve environmental protection. The project aligns with goals set in the Silver Springs Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP) and is a priority under the City’s 20-Year Water Needs Analysis.
“This allocation represents more than just financial support of Belleview. It is a recognition by state leadership that Belleview is growing, thriving, and worth investing in,” said Mayor Christine Dobkowski. “This funding helps us build for the future without placing undue strain on our taxpayers today.”
City Administrator Mariah Moody emphasized the importance of responsible financing: “Securing this funding demonstrates the success of our long-term planning and our collaborative efforts to keep Belleview moving forward.”
Construction began in February 2025 and is expected to be completed by June 2026. Along with state funds, the City is using low-interest loans from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund and is pursuing additional grant opportunities.
“This is a smart, forward-thinking project that lays the groundwork for sustainable growth,” said Public Works Director Bob Titterington. “We’re not just expanding capacity—we’re building resilience.”
