OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announced the SW 66th Street bridge over I-75 in southwestern Ocala will be closed for one year for reconstruction beginning Monday, June 15, 2026.

“The replacement of the SW 66th Street bridge is part of the larger Moving I-75 Forward initiative to improve conditions along I-75 from State Road (S.R.) 44 in Wildwood to S.R. 326 in Ocala,” read a statement. “Originally projected to take place in 2027, the timeframe for replacing the bridge was moved up to coincide with Moving I-75 Forward.”

When completed, the reconstructed bridge will be wider to accommodate future widening of SW 66th Street, and have nearly five more feet of height clearance above I-75, as well as a sidewalk along one side and a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists along the other.

Motorists are advised to use the SW 43rd Street Road in order to cross I-75 in the area.

Detours

  • Eastbound motorists may travel east on SR 200 or north on SW 40th Avenue, turn right on SW 43rd Street Road, proceed east across the bridge, then turn right onto SW 27th Avenue
  • Westbound motorists may travel north on SW 27th Avenue, turn left on SW 43rd Street Road, proceed west across the bridge, then turn left on SW 40th Avenue or continue to SR 200 and turn left
