OCALA, FL (352today.com) – For many Marion County families, finding long-term care options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can be a challenge. That’s why the upcoming expansion of Transitions Life Center (TLC) is such a significant milestone for the Ocala community. On Friday, May 30, 2025, at 10 a.m., TLC will break ground on a major campus expansion that promises to double its capacity and enhance services for those who need it most.
The $1.8 million project, funded by the State of Florida and in partnership with Benmar Construction, will add 6,000 square feet of specialized space to the existing facility. The expansion includes a sensory room, a functional room, two instructional studios, and a fully equipped instructional kitchen.
“This isn’t just about adding space, it’s about expanding our impact,” said Executive Director Sabrina Hughes. “We’re creating more opportunities for growth, connection, and independence for those we serve.”
TLC currently serves 65 members, with 30–35 attending daily. Once complete, the expanded facility will accommodate more than 100 members and welcome up to 60 attendees each day.
Founded in 2012, TLC offers programs designed to empower individuals with disabilities to live more independent and enriched lives. The center promotes social connection, life skill development, and faith-based values in a safe, caring environment.
