OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. and worldwide. Despite the fact that it’s one of the top three most commonly diagnosed forms of cancer, it’s still responsible for one out of every five cancer deaths in America.

Why? Delayed detection.

People who don’t smoke or work regularly with carcinogenic compounds like asbestos simply don’t think about it, or if they do, they consider their risk minimal or nonexistent, which simply isn’t true.

UF Health Ocala Neighborhood Hospital is holding a health expo on Saturday, November 14, 2026, to help better educate the public about lung cancer prevention, detection, and the latest diagnostic and treatment techniques. The institution will also be offering free lung screenings to those who register for the event in advance.

The event will also feature presentations by thoracic surgeon Mohammad Aladaileh, M.D., and pulmonologist Pankit Patel, M.D.

Those interested in a lung screening at the expo must register here by November 1.

The health expo runs from 9 a.m. until noon. UF Health Ocala Neighborhood Hospital is located at 2100 NW 35th Avenue Rd. in Ocala.
