OCALA, FL (352today.com) — The Barbergators Chorus is back — and they’re bringing heart, harmony, and a little humor to Ocala Civic Theatre (The Civic) for one special afternoon performance.
The acclaimed Gainesville-based group, known for their rich barbershop sound and crowd-pleasing stage presence, will take the stage Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m., joined by several quartets including The Times of Our Lives. Among the featured performers is Dr. Bill Slayton, a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at UF Health Shands and a familiar face to many through his work with North Central Florida Media’s annual Bear-A-Thon fundraiser supporting pediatric cancer patients.
This year’s concert is presented by ACT 4 – Ocala Civic Theatre, Inc., with all proceeds going to the Save the Civic Now campaign, a community effort to support the future of the nonprofit theatre.
Founded in 1973, The Barbergators Chorus has built a devoted following across North Central Florida, mixing traditional barbershop standards with doo-wop, gospel, and pop favorites. They’ve been performing at the Civic since 2019 and continue to live out their mission: bringing harmony to the community, literally and figuratively.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children and teens 18 and under. They’re available now at ocalacivictheatre.com or by calling the box office at (352) 236-2274, Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
