MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The weather does an about face on Thursday. The calm conditions turn to stormy and possibly severe.
The National Weather Service (NWS) says the severe weather threat ranges from marginal to slight for North Central Florida.
Meteorologists say we should expect heavy rain, high winds and the possibility of tornadoes.

The NWS forecast for Ocala is as follows:
Thursday: A chance of showers before 11 a.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. High near 83. Very windy, with a south wind 16 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m. Low around 56. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
“Locally greater wind gusts nearing 50 mph cannot be ruled out. Wind Advisories will likely be issued for portions of North and Central Florida,” said Erin Miller, deputy director for Marion County’s Emergency Management Division. Miller added that multiple rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorm activity may lead to instances of flash flooding in Marion County.
“Now is the time to make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings,” said Miller in a news release.
